What is Miro?

Miro is a powerful, cloud-based visual collaboration platform that serves as a digital whiteboard on steroids. It provides product managers with an infinite canvas populated with smart drawing tools, sticky notes, shapes, frameworks, and integration capabilities. Far more than a simple drawing tool, Miro is a dedicated workspace for the entire product lifecycle, from initial ideation and customer discovery to sprint planning and retrospective meetings. It bridges the gap between asynchronous work and live collaboration, making it indispensable for modern, often remote, product teams.

Key Features of Miro for Product Managers

Infinite Collaborative Canvas

Miro's core is a scalable, zoomable canvas that never runs out of space. Product managers can map entire product ecosystems, create expansive roadmaps, or visualize complex user journeys without constraints. Team members can collaborate simultaneously with live cursor tracking, comments, and @mentions, making meetings highly interactive and productive.

Pre-built Templates & Frameworks

Jumpstart any product activity with Miro's vast library of professionally designed templates. Find ready-to-use boards for User Story Mapping, Lean Canvas, Sprint Planning, Impact-Effort Matrix, Customer Journey Mapping, and Retrospectives. These frameworks ensure best practices are followed and save hours of setup time.

Real-time & Async Collaboration

Facilitate live workshops with video chat, timer, and voting features embedded directly on the board. For async work, team members can add comments, assign tasks, and make updates on their own schedule. Miro's presentation mode turns any board into a focused walkthrough, perfect for stakeholder reviews.

Powerful Integrations

Connect Miro seamlessly with the tools product managers already use. Embed Jira tickets, Confluence pages, Figma designs, Google Docs, and Slack notifications directly onto the canvas. This creates a single source of truth, eliminating context switching and keeping all relevant information visually connected.

Who Should Use Miro?

Miro is essential for any product professional working in a collaborative environment. It's ideal for Product Managers and Product Owners facilitating sprint planning, backlog grooming, and roadmap sessions. Product Designers and UX Researchers use it for empathy mapping and journey visualization. Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters rely on it for retrospective facilitation. Essentially, any team that needs to think visually, align on complex ideas, or run engaging remote workshops will find immense value in Miro's platform.
